From your post, you want a Blu Ray player and you also want to play audio files from a USB flash drive. You could get a player with USB as you mentioned but there are other options.
You could get a decent Blu Ray player (Panasonic, Samsung) without USB and also get a USB to S/PDIF adapter to use with the DAC you already have or instead of the adapter get another DAC with USB like the Emotiva XDA-2. At $219 (currently on sale on their website) you get the USB DAC + a Digital Preamp + a Headphone Amp. Hard to beat!!!

Hi and thank you very much for you kind and valuable reply
First i like very much Emotiva units and i am sure they sound very good indeed after reading many positive reviews
But my aim is a little different
I understand that the " usb playback " function is not so common
Instead i guess many players these days can connect wirelessly to a NAS
But i have to check for the quality of teh sound out of their analog outs
I am sure there are some with a very decent sound
Something like a cheap Oppo let's say.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
I got it instead of Oppo 105.
You can also burn DVD-A Discs with Hi-Rez Files, I use "Burn".
Haven't made direct comparison, just another way to listen to HiRez.
Hi and thanks a lot and very beautiful unit the Marantz
I understand now more clearly that cheaper units cannot give a good sound
I like the build quality of the Marantz a lot
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg
That Marantz's build quality is nothing special. Compared against an Oppo BDP-105 it looks pretty lame. That cheap chassis is one telling clue...

Hi agree completely there is no doubt about the quality of the Oppo 105
But i was wondering if, even considering the risk of a failure in the cheap drive, a cheaper blue ray player could work fine as a streamer
I can run an ethernet cable from my router so wi-fi is not needed
A good audio only streamer easily cost > 1000 USD and streams only audio
And often needs an additional DA converter
From what i understand the audio/video circuitry of many BR players gives excellent performance both with audio and video
I will try one ... i like Panasonic units but also Sony.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
