Hi and thanks for the kind and valuable advice and ... sorry for the ramblings
You are right ... i have a "cheap" attitude that can be a bad thing
But 1) i do not need a high end video having just a normal plasma TV
2) i would like to get a decent sound directly from the analog outs of the source without the need to add a dac/pre processor
3) the ability to stream wirelessly from a Nas would be very interesting
I am sure that the Oppo you recommend has all these 3 features
And the construction even of the stock model is spectacular
I heard that some high-end brands just re-pack the Oppo internals and charge a lot more
But is 800 euro ... i was thinking more to 2-300
Even something used would be perfectly ok
I do not need the very last model at all
I see many people triyng to get rid of still nice things these days
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg

A gently used Oppo BDP-93 would probably be perfect. I've seen them on Agon for about $300-350US. They do a credible job on the audio side and a spectacular job of upscaling DVDs. They also have all of the networking features you seek, USB input, and typical Oppo build quality.
I have a 93 and really like the unit. It's built very well and will last at least a decade...
PS: I'll try to dig up the info. on the LG wireless I mentioned. However, I really do not like its user interface and it is nothing special on audio playback - no SACD or DVD-Audio for one thing...

800 Euro?? crazy high
$629 CDN here
Hi and thanks again
This is the price mentioned in the review you linked for the modded unit
i do not mean that the Oppo is not a great unit indeed
The photos show the quality of the layout and parts
Actually i heard rumors of its circuits used in other high end players
So it must be very good indeed
But i think that the last drop of quality is noticeable only in very good playback systems, hardly my case
I have now an old Roksan integrated and cheap Dynaudio bookshelf speakers
Nice but not at all high end
But i promise .. this is the last rambling
Thanks a lot again
Kind regards,

No, the rambling is always welcome.
I always click on your posts cuz I appreciate your enthusiasm for our silly hobby!
Hi Enzo !
thanks a lot for your kind sympathy in the sense that i am little sick for audio and actually i tend to buy very cheap things in big quantity
Always looking for some "giant killer"
And my friends criticize me always
They rightly prefer few good pieces of decent quality
I guess that this kind of behaviour comes from the youth when i could not buy almost anything
Thanks a lot again.
Kindest regards.
Kind regards,
bg
