I just browsed around Fry's electronics. I don't find as many bargains as before and the store organization is mucho confusing, but I got a LOT of exercise out of it.
Well, they have the TVs at mostly eye-level which is a LOT better than at Best Buy.
I must say, I am looking for a cheapo TV for the family room and I saw a 50 inch Sanyo for $499.00 that looked just fine to me. Then, around the corner are, of course, the new 4K sets. I think it was an LG, 4K, set for $999.00 or $1099.00??
If you see an attractive woman on these TVs, well, well...there's a difference ;-)

It was good on some material, but overall the Samsung plasma (non-4K) was superior.

Yes, 4k sets are amazing, when you are close enough to take advantage of the enhanced resolution. I have a 48" Sony, which is 9 1/2' away. I do not want the TV any closer. Some people LOVE to be much closer. 4k would be for those people...
I'm waiting for 16K cause it'll look sooo real that you will not be able to watch it without fearing that the people on screen are in your house, hopefully they'll be attractive women.
This..
The standards for 4K haven't been finalized yet. They still have to finalize the dynamic range and color space.
