A 1080p to tide me over till I get a 4k oled LG in a couple years when Dolby Vision is mainstream.
Risky?

Panasonic GT series from 2014. I have the 55" model. GT series has stylish casework. It's thinner than the older models. As a result, the built-in speakers aren't very good, but the pic is excellent!
Hey- we have a celeb in the house.
I own three Panasonic Vieras. Wonderful. Gonna miss them when they are gone. I only hope,OLED is within my price range when I need replacements.

I would only consider a Pioneer Elite.
as consumers make the changeover to the latest and greatest. Our 2011 65" Panny plasma (their lower end model) runs 6 hours a day and hasn't had issue # 1.

"E Burres Stigano?"
Pobably dirt cheap used, and my Samsung has been bulletproof. Almost wish it would fail so I could justify going bigger (have 50" which just about disappears in my living room).
Risky? No, not IMO. Just pick one of the later gen Panasonic or Pioneer plasmas.
Pioneer stopped making them in 2010 and Panasonic in 2014 if I recall correctly.
My Panasonic 50" plasma from 2007 still looks beautiful. No problems, and its used at least 4 hrs. a day, more on weekends.
