I don't think you will see any improvement if the player dose not support 4k.

If you don't have a 4K player, all you are watching is upscaled 1080p.
I don't know how good 4K streaming is. Since streaming 1080p tends to be not as good as the discs, I'm guessing that 4k is in the same boat.
Plus, some 4K discs are really upscaled 1080p.
