  There has to be studs of some sort. If they do not line up with the screen, use a 1x6 board bolted to the studs and mount the screen to the 1x6 board.

  There must be some type of stud in the wall to support the wall-
  There are a number of ways to locate studs - either by ear, or with a device...
  
  If there are in fact no studs -
  then I would take a large piece of plywood, and secure it with lots of drywall screws, then attach the screen from the plywood.

    I'm thinking maybe use those plastic inserts for drywall.
    
    There are studs, just not the size of this screen.
    
    I'll do that, plastic inserts and hang two screws.

      Those plastic plugs are OK if used on a wall for some lighter items at a single hanging. For constant use (pulling, reeling back) however I'd opt for wall anchors. Just my opinion...

    And use a LOT OF GLUE.
    That way, when removal time comes, a good chunk of wall comes, too.
    
    US code typically calls for studs '16 inches on center'........Joists, which are LEVEL are also either 16 or 24 on center while the same goes for rafters.....which are 'tilted' and parallel the roof line.
    
    A Joist and a pair of rafters, to a 'peak' would be the minimum requirement of a TRUSS....
    Too much is never enough

    they do make TV mounts for ceilings of course
    
    that's funny though ... walls without studs
