You can't stream to the Sony, it can only stream audio to other blutooth devices. If you got a new smart TV, you could probably cast video to it from your cell phone.
Other than that things can get a little complicated, if you really need Disney+, you better off finding something with the app built in. Like Roku, Apple TV. Etc.
Follow Ups:
We have a new smart TV in the living room, that's how this all started. Got Disney+, cool! Just operates thru the TV.
Next was to our older plasma in the bedroom, bought a Google Chromecast pod, so I watch some Disney+ from my cell there also. Wonderful.
Back to the subject at hand, the big room. I'll just use the coax digital out from a DVD player to the receiver for audio. I can do the same from a cable box I'm sure also.
But what device will work best to get video from those sources to the PJ? I know one can buy a Roku stick and get a signal from a cell direct to the PJ via the Roku stick. But that uses the PJ speaker. How to get video from a DVD/BD player and/or cable box to the PJ? Can I stream that? Maybe using an HDMI switch?
I think Disney+ might be harder, as I need something other than a cell, so how to get a Disney+ "box" down there? Not as much a concern for now... main thing is video from my rack to the PJ without hard wiring (if possible).
The Epson dose not seem to have any wireless streaming abilities, your only option is hard wire using HDMI.
I would suggest you buy a AVR to use as main distribution point. Doesn't have to be a expensive one , there are nice ones under $500, like a Marantz nr1510, I have one right now I am trying out. All your sources can go in there and one HDMI go to the projector. Its a really nice all in one preamp, processor, tuner, phone input, and to my surprise, a very good streaming app to get all internet radio.
Its a great upgrade.
$500 US equates to $800 CAD + taxes, that's a lot of cash to replace something that, other than these video connections, does the job fine. The Marantz unit actually has pre-outs, but I simply don't have $900 spare change for this.
There is a way to connect the PJ it seems, using a separately purchased LAN module. Would that work? And if so, from both a DVD player and a cable box?
Maybe hardwired is the best solution...
try the ethernet over power solution, use a network cable
why insist on wireless?
regards,
Just didn't want to run the HDMI cable, but I think that's exactly what I'll be doing. Thank you.
there's 'special' HDMI cables for long runs that will pass 4K
a little pricey but worth it
with regards,
Good call on that, and thanks for the link
