I am an enthusiastic fan of "Ex Machina" and "Annihilation," but Alex Garland's latest is one of the absolute worst films of the past few years. Unfortunately so, because it has some excellent actors--- all wasted in a story that goes sideways about 2/3 in and then gets crazier and more desperate as it collapses.

Spoiler: a film that shows--- in detail--- men giving subsequent and multiple births to fully formed men, for no explainable or understandable reason--- should never itself have been "birthed."

Working on so many levels; sci-fi, horror, love story, acting, and no answers, just mystery and inference. All beautifully filmed.

You wait, I'll bet it worked too. He'll fail spectacularly here and they'll give him another movie to make.

He has great taste, loved Annihilation and Ex Machina. His thoughts on Men - Don't go near it.

Since you loved the 2 aforementioned films, try Garland's series, Devs. 5 or 10 minutes into it I told Mrs. Nasty that the cat who created this did Ex Machina. Solid and recommended tho not great.

a puss like you. The film was a beautiful production with a psychologically tricky story/dialog. The final "birthing" minutes made me wonder if he was paying tribute to "men an give birth and need abortions" or if he was mocking it. Deep down women should be upset by this because they are the real birth givers and the film leads up to a betrayal.

All the pieces of the project are good. The special effects are astounding and Kinnear really suffered through it all.

Men giving birth to men? WTF? Check, please! Nt, posted on June 4, 2022 at 08:24:32

I guess no one had the cojones to tell him, "Alex, to into rehab and forget this one."
