...professional calibration will transform it. Couldn't believe the before and after on a friend's Mitsubishi. If you got this for free, for heaven's sake get it calibrated (after 100 hours break in.) Ypu'll be glad you did.
My friend's calibration was under $500, BTW, from Gregg Loewen.
