I have found the DVI connection between the Marantz DV-8400 DVD player and the Marantz VP-12S2 or VP-12S3 projector to be superior to the component video connection, but my colleagues who have experience with a variety of source components and displays tell me that this is not always the case. Whether the DVI connection is superior (as it's supposed to be, given that it's a more direct "digital" connection) depends on the implementation--with some combination of components, the component connection yield better results (more linear frequency response). As with most things, you have to try it and see.Bob
