Look for a Sony PS3 (60GB version, don't get the 20GB version).Because of what Sony packed into this product, it is getting better by the firmware updates and currently equals or betters stand-alone players. Coming in March '07 will be several more updates, one of which should be decoding of DTS-HD Master Audio (it already decodes Dolby TrueHD) and possible enhancements to its SACD playback.
Oh, I almost forgot: not only is it an evolving player, it's $599.
