Re: Sears Sony Blu-ray demo

I did a search a while back, and found it at DVDcity for $800. There are several things you should know. The Sony (and Pioneer) Blu-ray players do NOT play CDs. The PS3 does, but does NOT upscale DVDs.None of the Blu-ray players support advanced audio codecs at this point.
The Samsung, now discontinued, is supposed to be reasonably good with the upgraded firmware.
Yes, I beleive that HD DVD bests Blu-ray PQ wise. Most people who own both prefer HD DVD. Despite its supposedly "superior technology" and greater storage capacity (Sony needs it for ineffecient codecs), the absolute BEST it can do, is be as good as HD DVD. For that, they charge twice the price. You can get the HD A2 for less than $500 and you can even get the XA1 (1st gen) for $500 now.
HTH,

PS. here's the link-they are having server problems today, try later.
