Toshiba has been mailing the firmware update CDs to me unasked (I did not send in the request card, but I did register it) and the 2.7 update arrived a few days before the release of Harry Potter, and it went without a hitch. Previously, I've also run an ethernet cable to the player and upgraded it online.
