RE: DVD Recorder - High Def Question

I have not looked at the issue for about 3-4 mos. but looked into it before that as I was thinking about replacing an old DVD recorder and and updating the HD tuner. I hardly record much (or watch tons of TV) but figured it would be nice to have one component vs. two. Basically all DVD Recorders with built in tuners (at the time I looked) do 480 lines and will upconvert to 1080i (for recording or viewing) so you get a nice digital picture but not quite HD. The Dish TR-50 was supposed to be out in August (have not followed it) and has 2 tuners (and you don't need to be a subcriber) and will record in HD. I went with a Samsung 260 outboard tuner to replace my 1st generation Samsung SIR-T150 tuner as I got an HDMI projector and wanted to simplify the number of wires in back of the rack.
