From the English Powell & Pressburger factory.
Scotland at his best in studio or on location.
Wonderful photography.
Nice dialog.
Good actors ( Petula Clark in her prime )
Nobodys donīt make this kind of films anymore.
For a perfectionist last touch of cinemotographic education.
Good film.

Follow Ups:
...A Canterbury Tale and A mAtter of Life and Death to the pantheon..
I saw them. None found my grace, even they are in the catagory " have to see if you like English films ".

...one Powell/Pressberger's string of absolutely phenomenal films in the forties. One of my favorites of theirs, although it's often opver-looked. The DVD transfer was supervised by cinematographer Erwin Miller and there are some tasty extras on Criterion's edition including home movies narrated by Thelma Schoonmaker, two interesting docs and excerpts from Powell's 1937 film The Edge Of The WOrld.I also highly recommend P/P's The Life & Death of Colonel Blimp, The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus, if you haven't alreasy seen them.

First on Critrion Laserdisc and then on the new DVDs. The ttansfers of these classic are truly stunning, ezpecially "Black Narcissus". And "...Blimp" never ceses to amaze me that it was filmed in color in war time England!
