In Reply to: Why didn't you lot warn me not to rent "The Forgotten"....it should be. posted by dennzio on March 2, 2005 at 17:25:55:
Now, go rent My Architect. Amazing stuff, if only for the shots of Louis Kahn's unbelievably overwhelming buildings---unlike those of any other architects.
Or...have you seen the very Taoist "A Taste of Cherry"?
Another movie which deserves cult status: "Cold Fever" about a Japanese guy who goes to Iceland to find...well, I can't disclose but the culture shock of him smashing against the Icelandics is hilarious. (I'll grant refunds if you don't like any of 'em).
Fair enough?

Follow Ups:
It starts entertaining, but eventually loses the momentum, which is not uncommon for less exprienced directors. His Children of Nature is a more mature work, I think. But Cold Fever does have good moments, so it is easy to recommend.

through the hilarious dance, the trip to the springs, and the road trip...It has held up to several viewings for us and I can't wait to see it again. The protagonist is a wonderful actor.

I didn't say I didn't like it - I enjoyed it, but it definitely started losing towards the end. But overall the film deserves good recommendation, there is enough in it to justify that. And all that cold... brrrrrrr... walking through deep snow in dress shoes... only the Black Robe has more cold in it.

underrated movie!

I really don't know why it doesn't get more attention - like his Breaker Morant, for instance. It is a mesmerizing film.
