Follow Ups:
I read the LA Times and, as you can imagine, there is quite a bit on the health of the movie business. Not too long ago, I read another article. The gist of it was that the movie industry was really worried about the decline in summer business and that many theories had been offered, such as the article you link in July.
Then something unexpected happened. Some hit movies came out and the movie box office hit some early fall records.
So the new working theory is that the summer decline was due to lousy movies and that good movies bring out good business.

theater! I did see "Batman Begins" (family wanted to go) and "War of the Worlds" (on a business trip alone and bored) but with Netflix and my home theater- who in their right mind would go through the hassle- financial and otherwise?Does Hollywood just not get this? What is their answer? Higher prices and commercials! Granted the theater owners are to blame as well but can't they see they are all headed down a road to extinction?- and they're hitting the gas!
