It's time to dump my beloved Proceed AVP. The AVP 2 upgrade is apparently no longer available, and HK has killed off yet another line -- Proceed is history. However, they also have an (unadvertised) upgrade offer that allows me to trade-in my AVP for a Lexicon MC8 or MC12. Net cost - my AVP plus $3,000 for an MC8, or my AVP plus $5,000 for an MC12 ($1,000 more for either if I want balanced, which I don't). Offer expires at the end of March (so they say).
So, are there any other AVP owners here who have contemplated this deal? What did you do and why. And, are there any Lexicon owners that reviewed both the 8 & 12 - what did you choose, and why? Is the 12 worth $2,000 more than the 8 in real life situations?
I don't need any input on going with other mfgs., such as Meridian, Sonic Frontiers, etc. That's been well covered in other threads.
Follow Ups:
Has the Proceed stopped working ?I still have mine and I hope it continues to work until I can afford/have the mindset to blow kilobucks on it's replacement. I only use it for DD/DTS decoding and composite video switching (I bought a separate multichannel preamp to take care of music). I'm also looking at separate component and/or DVI switchers to do my video switching.
As a Preamp for music, I think it still might be amongst the best out there at it's price point for pre/pros (I did audition the highly touted Arcam Pre/pro and continue to prefer the Proceed). I don't need all the "cheesy surround modes", so I can afford to wait on a processor upgrade.
I'm hoping to find a DVD source with built-in DD/DTS decoding and DACS to rival the Proceeds'. Then I can lose the Proceed without bothering to find a replacement.

Thanks to the one person who offered some help.I'm taking my AVP to a Lexicon dealer this weekend for a $4,000 credit (deal currently set to expire end of March). That, plus $5K cash, will get me an MC12 (not much room to negotiate on this deal, but they offered to pay the sales tax).
I figure I'd get less than $1k IF I could even find someone willing to buy my AVP. There are a some decent preampro's I could get for less than the $5k, and the MC12's remote is pretty sad, but I really respect Lexicon's track record in offering tradeup's for its customers. It's almost like they are not part of Harmon Kardon :))
