1) We weren't particularly enjoying it anyway but when they strung him up by his man breasts, that did it.2) Wife and I went to see Monty Python and The Search For The Holy Grail. Didn't get it (at the time). Everbuddy in the theater was laughing like crazy but the humour wasn't connecting with us and we bailed. Now an avid fan who's seen it a dozen times at least
3) Streaming, too many to mention but one that comes immediately to mind was that Sandra Bullock dog, Bird Box. I lasted maybe a half an hour.
4) Not a movie but a highly touted drama series, Billions, on Showtime(?). Great cast and wife and I were looking forward to it. In the very first scene, a guy is having sex with a hottie. Cool but, she puts a cigarette out on his stomach and proceeds to pee on him. That told us right away their target demographic wasn't us. We were immediately done with it, not 5 minutes into it. I don't care how great the series is, and it's gotten very high ratings, that message was received loud and clear.

The first time I saw the Holy Grail was in the Rio theater in Monte Rio, CA. They only had one working projector so you had to wait for them to rewind the first reel and then load the second reel. I sat through the first reel in stunned silence with my jaw dropped, but by the time the second reel started either their brand of humor had sunk in or the drugs had kicked in and I spent the rest of the movie laughing hysterically. I have been a fan ever since.
I don't care for Billions either and you would think with that cast it would be a great series. The S&M didn't bother me, it had it's shock value, I just couldn't get into it even after several tries. BTW the hottie was his therapist wife.

Re:your #4, "Billions" That was his wife. It gets stranger from there.
I love "Billions." The only thing better is "Peaky Blinders," which I am also catching up on.
But the sado masochism element ain't my thang
