A very watered down version of the Tennessee Williams play. There is a 1984 version with Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Lang, and Rip Torn that was to me much better.
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
Follow Ups:
the cast in the film is light years ahead of the acting talent in the TV version.... Jessica Lange doesn't exude the kind of steamy sexuality that Elizabeth Taylor did....
It made more sense to me. It also seemed more authentically Southern. There was talk of homosexuality in the play, but AFAIC no real homosexuality, although I don't have any interest in analyzing CoaHTR.
True, nobody really beats E. Taylor for sexuality. To me her best scene of the all time is in "Taming of the Shrew," when Richard Burton has her pinned down on a pile of wool, and her magnificent breasts are heaving to and fro while she struggles. That seen was awesome, and much too short. :)
