Great production, but Giamatti and Linney wore out their welcomes before the series was half over. I thought the 2nd tier cast did far better than the stars. The leads were stiff and pretentious without the chops to carry it off. By the third installment, Giammotti's unintelligible mumbling and synthetic accent was irritating, and I really tired of Linney's tight smile Mona Lisa imitation. Wilkerson's Ben Franklin was better than either. I felt like I was watching the animated figures at Disney World. As the guy who jumped off the 20-story building shouted as he passed the 10th Floor "So far..so good!"
Follow Ups:
I thought he was the best thing about Michael Clayton, all the buzz about Clooney's performance notwithstanding.
.
He's really adaptable to so many kinds of roles. Another Michael Caine.

Well sometime one may develop some kind of allergies nobody knows exactly why and how.
Incompability. I would call it.
Yes it is a minimal invasion in the art of acting, but that is what, in this case I like.
I would call it clarity, you, Disneyesque...
Also I have a different kind of sensiblity when I watch a foreign film, the same when you may watch a French one, only the difference of mentality proper to every country may you feel like you were on holliday...
That may play a role too...
But this series, is really....wonderful for me.
