young Trintignant (blond haired !). What makes the film, however, is Vittorio Gassman spectacular performance. He embodies Italian masculinity. The car (a Lancia) should have gotten fourth billing, after the Lolita-like Spaak.

Amazon only has one very expensive copy and it's in Region 2 with no English subtitle.

  Patrick, I think, found a copy and I don't believe he understands Italian. Perhaps he found an English, French, or German (he's a polyglot...) subtitled copy?

    This is just one, a particularly amusing scene involving an old hitch-hiker. The Lancia has an innovative sound system with a 33 rpm player in the glove box!
