The front story and 3D was really good, but the entire story fell apart once they arrived in South America.Basically when the dogs started to talk, the story floundered. The villain was not much of a villain.
I've been to other movies like this..historically, I thought the first 30 minutes of "Gremlins" was even among the best movies ever, but then the screenwriters ran out of what to do with the plot.
More recently, that Will Smith sci fi movie with the marvelous dog. When the dog dies part way through, the movie dies. What was the name of that one, "I am Legend"?
Follow Ups:
really care about it?
There was no tension to the plot, no zing. LONG middle period with lots of cutesie stuff.
Compared to "The Incredibles," this was terrible.
I think many may be so overawed by the animation--- and that amazing first biography-- that they suspend critical analysis of the rest.
I'd imagine this film won't do very well as the next couple of weeks unfold. Very little repeat, very little adult viewing compared to mega-hits of the genre.
You'd imagine wrong.
"Walt Disney Pictures' Pixar cartoon "Up" held at No. 2 with $30.5 million, taking its total to $187.2 million after three weekends. The previous Pixar release, "Wall-E," had earned $163 million in the same span last summer."
...SQUIRREL!!! ;O)
