If you can distinguish a cliche from a sterotype you will enjoy the challenge thrown up by this film which exhibits both in equal and all encompassing amounts.
Clive Own plays a journalist whose wife dies and who at apparently nearing 50 cannot clean a house to save his life but is prepared to wash out his sorrows with whiskey with a gay abandon as to whether or not his 8 year old son is around.
Almost all the scenes appear gratuitous and the plot such as it is seems made up on the spot by a production crew hoping for a 4 Weddings Goes To Australia scenic spectacular.
How do we know when we're in England? It's raining. What do Aussie teens do as soon as they get off the leash... trash the house.
The kids don't talk like kids, the teens don;t talk like teens and I bloody well hope that adults don't talk like that!
I have rarely been so pleased not to have paid.

Owen abandons his first wife.
Abandons any responsibility for bringing up there son until his second wife dies.
Abandons any caring for the house(work).
Abandons a woman interested in him as soon as she won't look after HIS kids every time he has something better to do.
Abandons his mother in law who has just rescued both sons from a house trashing party after Owen has abandoned them alone while he goes off to drink in Melbourne (and for a brief moment report on the Australian Open final which in fact he completely fails to do for reasons not quite clear as he only goes to report on the final)
His comments on the women's final ("big tits or long legs" seem to lack even a slender layer of humour in this most wretched of films.
A film about a grossly self-centred boring guy who refuses to take any responsibility apart from that of opening another bottle.
And just to top the film off, they use his dead wife reappearing to talk to him to have to tell him how to be a father and at the very end tot ell him he can buy a convertible.WOW! That feels better!!!
