I just had to throw my vote into the pile. This is, hands down, one of the most graphically beautiful movies I have ever seen. Many stereotyped social/political themes, but the story and acting are decent, and the visuals are stunning.
This has to be seen in 3D (available in 2D, but why?), so try to find a theater that can do it. It'll be worth your time.
Follow Ups:
I agree. I usually avoid 3D movies, but I saw this one because of all the hype. The best 3D I have ever seen. My son and I actually went a second time.

DVD release has been implied by discussion of film industry analysts. The discussion centers around the fact that previous DVD releases of 3D films (in 2D, as this will no doubt be, at least to start) historically do relatively less well in the market than do DVD releases of 2D films.
Can I then still claim the credit?

I saw below that you gave a thumbs up to this. Credit where credit's due.
Anybody who self-snobs their way out of seeing this is losing out.
I am feeling the sarcasm, but I have no idea what Milk Duds is... please explain. And thumbs up to what?
I thank you for the advice, but no, thanks... I have long list of good films still waiting to be watched. But take AuPh with you, he really needs it!

Milk Duds are little balls of caramel (about 1 cm in diameter) covered with milk chocolate. Every American has pulled off a crown with them at least once.
I thought you liked this movie. Thumbs up; approval. Maybe I misread.
Milk Duds is a box candy that has been at the refreshment counters in every theater I've been in since the 1950's.
Which movie? Avatar? I did not see it, and not going to.
Sometimes I do regret missing the American culture of the fifties! :)

I'm sure he'd be up for an Avatarded > Lord of the Rings marathon viewing session!
