I saw it on Sat 5/8/10 at the local IMAX. I thought the first Iron Man was better by a decent margin. In comparison, the fun was missing from this one IMO. Dialogue and plot seemed to wander aimlessly at times and some of the CGI and effects didn't add to the overall experience. Clearly, this version is geared to the Marvel fanboy crowd esp considering the teaser stuck near the end of the ending credits. I appreciated this treat a lot less than most of those who stayed behind. OTOH the Imax presentation was impressive to the point that it more-or-less "saved" the film for me. This is sad, very sad only!
Speaking of fanboys, my showing was apparently filled with them. The guy in front of me was texting someone every 5min and it was totally annoying. I finally ended up "accidently" kicking the back of his seat. He seemed startled but got the message. And he wasn't alone in the practice. I don't get the logic of paying a premium for a major film (major in the sense of potential revenues earned) on its opening weekend and then spending considerable time messing around with a cell phone. Guess I'm getting old.

I didn't intend to leave the impression that IM2 was total junk, just that the first one was better. I suspect that IM1 was geared to a more general audience and not Marvel fanboys. IM2 was entertaining, esp in the IMAX presentation and was certainly better than some recent releases I thought were really bad such as Crash of the Titans .
I agree the first was much better.
