It had more heart and more soul than every other summer movie from this year combined. And I liked a lot of this summer's movies.
But this is an instant classic. Caesar was just an incredible character.

Not really Sci Fi but a good ol fashioned us v them (in this case, "it") flick.

Cloverdale fell apart for me in the subway tunnel.
Now Quarentine is another matter. That one held up from start to finish.
and the hot chick exploding a few minutes afterwards. I wonder why Lizzie Caplan doesn't get more substantial roles? That and her True Blood arc are the only ones that come to mind.\\Another good creepy flick, The Descent.

My problem with the subway was you had these creatures that were eating military like popcorn struggling against four rogue civilians in an envirement that would favor the creatures. Very inconsistant IMO. Also I had a big issue with them being the only ones left on the island. From that point one they pretty much didn't see anyone. They are in a toppled building (huge problem in my book) looking for a friend (really?) and not only is it abandoned but apparently nobody died in their when it was toppled. For me it just made too many glaring errors after the first half. Given the format errors like that were a problem IMO
plot device tho, to keep em in the city so we could see Cloverdsle smash some shite up. I don't think they so much "beat" the little subway monsters as they got away from them. And remember, the hot chick blew up all to hell and back so the little monsters got one human.

Inception was interesting, but deeply flawed.
28 Days later. Seriously?
District 9. Good movie, but simple and somewhat tedious.
Moon. Good low-budget film with another great Rockwell performance, but best move? Not close.
Nothing on that list is close to the fully realized vision from 'Rise'.
And Caesar is just an amazing character - quite unique in the history of filmed SF.
