Nice popcorner. Lots of action and scenery and everyone does a good job. Chris Pine is coming along nicely and is capable of carrying a new series of Clancy-type entertainments. Costner did good and Branagh gave a pitch-perfect, steely performance as the Russian adversary. The plot revolves around the financial destruction of the U.S. by creating a terror event immediately followed by massive treasury bond sell offs. Plausible but not important. The action was important and there was plenty of it. This is a good movie to see when the ball n'chain isn't looking. Kind of vapid but fun.

And Hunt for Red October is still my favorite flick in the series.

.
really was him.
essence of how he was portrayed by Clancy in the novels. Having said that I've got no problem with Ford's portrayal, IMHO, he was sabotaged by the direction. Patriot Games, tho flawed, was his best effort. The silly boat chase across Chesapeake Bay and his character's forced heroics flawed an otherwise solid flick. He was OK in Clear and Present Danger.Don't get me started on the silly Sum of All Fears and Affleck and the changing of the antagonists to White Supremacists/Neo Nazis. Yawn.....
I'm still waiting for Red Storm Rising to be made into a movie or Cardinal of the Kremlin but unfortunately the windows for those two have closed.
