Thanks for the insight, Joe. I only hope I can stave-off the upgrade until some of this new stuff coming next year gets reasonable in price. My 15 year-old Toshiba 32" CRT is still working fine, but starting to get a lot of pressure from the family to move into the 21st century. Pretty much settled on plasma and really seduced by the Kuro's. How much better do you think the new stuff will be than the current Kuro's?

Today's Kuros certainly put forth a beautiful picture, but the Gen 9 models will be better still. I just wish the wait for the "Holy Grail" black levels like on the Extreme Contrast models shown at CES wouldn't be so long (late 2009?). Panasonic will also have some nice models with improved black levels coming out, but their black levels won't be quite at the level of the Kuros and, fortunately, neither will the prices. :-)

    While I wished SED would have succeded at the time, maybe the thought of a technology bettering plasma got Pioneer, Panasonic and Hitachi off of their collective asses to join together in 10-lumen tech. But seriously, who cares where the push came from. We'll get the benefits of the advancements in technology regardless.
