while the colors will be (or should be) better on BD Vs, a regular DVD, you wn't see any difference in resolution. The act of downscaling the disc may actually do damage,if your set is actually 480.

I have to tell ya, it's not by today's standards a hot shot TV. But it suits me very well except for occasional color inaccuracy and an occasional lag in the picture.
Changing the bulb on my SXRD *shouldn't* be a big deal ( haven't done it yet), and the bulb was $250. Its been 2+ years (~5K hrs) for my set and I'm still on the original bulb. I have a back-up, but when that goes, I'll just replace the whole set. Plasma is just starting to catch up now,so they should be reasonable in a few years.

Remove the cover, loosen the bolts, slide out the lamp assembly, slide in the new lamp, tighten the bolts and replace the cover. Took 5 minutes, tops.
