Greetings all,
I posted this in DVD-A as well....
I just set up a plasma tv and am running a sony blue bdp bx1 blue ray and a sientific atlanta cable box. I am using 2 channel stereo for now, with my Marantz 2325 receiver and Pioneer HPM 100 speakers. If I manually hook up the individual audio sources to the marantz (audio out to tape 2 in, via rca cables) I get great sound, no problems. However,my problem is that:
1) I can't mute or lower the stereo volume without manually adjusting the Marantz(a huge deal with loud tv commercials)
2) When I tried a Radio shack av switch box so as not to run 2 cables to the receiver, as I only had 1 input left open to use, I get a very audible buzz in the blue ray audio.
Any suggestions for a remote controlled switch box with either volume or on/off capabilities?

...use the remote control for the cable box to lower volume/mute the cable box for loud commercials? I realize that won't help you with blu-ray, but for that you can always just hit the pause button on the Sony's remote in lieu of a mute button. If you just want to sit on your sofa with one remote to control the whole thing, an audio switch box isn't the answer - a new receiver with remote-controllable volume and universal remote is the answer.

was to control the audio out volume to my Marantz on the SA box with a remote. I now realize this is not possible as the Marantz is the amp controlling the audio to the speakers. As you said, the bluray is no issue as I can pause it. Anyway, I adjusted the audio out on the TV to be variable(ie, turns itself down for commercials) so if I have at least 1/3 of the total sound coming from the set itself the commercials are tolerable...
The other alternative I guess would be to run all the audio through the TV which is problematic as I can't access the back to well at this point(wall mounted)
PS I've watched several blu-ray movies now and I love this set so far!
thanks

This makes no sense. The remote for the SA box will control the volume from the SA box if set up correctly. I had thought you were trying to control the volume from the BluRay player with the SA box volume control!!!
How, exactly, are things connected?
Kal
The set up is as follows: Cable in to SA cable box, HDMI out to Plasma. Audio out (RCA audio cable) to Marantz tape 2 in. Remote speakers connected to Marantz. So far, cable remote only controls the TV speaker volume, not the remote speakers.
It would be nice to lower or mute all the speakers with the remote....
Seems like an issue with the Plasma. Why not run HDMI to plasma and RCAs from SA box to Marantz?
Kal
thanks
the only remote you have is the tvs?if this is the case use tv out to the marantz.you can try ebay for volume control switch box.Ive never seen one
