I asked a serious question about if any one still makes a CRT " tube" TV and all I get are silly answers !
AND nobody answered the question !!
I am quite disappointed at the members of this form.

Have you considered a plasma display?
Many of the reasons that people prefer plasma to LCD are the same reasons that people prefer CRT to LCD. Plasma and CRT both use phosphurs as their display technology. Besides, even if you could find a brand new Sony 32" Widescreen CRT, the price of even a 42" 1080p plasma is likely to be far less expensive. Unless you need to fit your display in a space-definite cabinet which would negate a display larger a certain size, you should give a plasma display consideration. Then again, last year I bought my son a 32" plasma for his room (but I haven't seen this size offered lately).
Google product search ( one of the many features of Google) found the following:
http://www.google.com/products?q=crt+tv+32"&aq=4&oq=CRT+TV
I don't think it will work in your case, but it's worth a try....
wont even consider installing a crt because of the insurance implications. i suggest buying a used unit of good pedigree and "maybe" there will be a renaissance as there was in the vinyl world.

Truly, truly, truly, oh...
Don't talk to me, no
About people who are "nice"
'Cause I have spent my WHOLE LIFE
in RUINS
Because of people who are "nice"
Oh, this world may lack Style, I know
Each bud must blossom and grow, oh...
Young girl, one day you will be old
But the thing is, I love you NOW
Mmm ...
This is the last song I will ever sing (Yeah!)
No: I've changed my mind again (Aaw...)
GOODNIGHT
AND THANK YOU

...ok, who helped you do that?
I wondered how he did that and did a Google search for "let me Google that for you" and found there is a website where you type in the search criteria that will then give you a link to what would be the results of said Google search. You then copy and paste that link. Let's say you wanted to know about tube amp kits....
The link below is actually the following address: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=tube+amp+kits
Google is your friend :)

A quick "Google" of "crt tv" brings up a whole bunch. Here's one link of many
"I am quite disappointed at the members of this form."
You said you wanted to know if anyone made a CRT television, and added that the best picture you ever saw was on a Sony.
Now excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't it be logical and very, very simple to find out if Sony still made CRT televisions?
Not rocket science to find out - I just Googled 'Sony CRT television' and yes, Sony do still make them surprise surprise.
I really am quite disappointed with a certain member of this forum!
Odd that they don't mention them on their web-site. I see no evidence that they still make them.
Rick
rick m,
I'm a big fan of the 32" Sony I bought in 2005 and would swear I still saw this model at Fry's about 6-8 months ago. However, while poking around on this topic I saw somewhere- I can't find it again- that Sony stopped making CRT's in March, 2008.
One oddity is that I saw 2 Bizrate pages with a long list of various Sony CRT's, then when ckinking on "more info" it says "we're sorry, no stores are carrying that item.
It seems to me there should be NOS around still for the serious glass enthusiast.
Cheers,
Bambi B
Yep, according to Wikepedia Sony stopped making the Trinitron last year, but they still seem to be around in UK stores and of course can be found used on Ebay and even in Amazon stores.
Still doesn't alter the fact I was wrong so I'm going away to hide for a few days.......
could not find any sony 32" widescreen.
Next time you want a specific answer, ask a specific question.
Rather than: "I hate LCD TV's ...does anyone still make tube (crt) based TV?"
Try this instead: "Does Sony still make a wide-screen 32" CRT ?"
The answer would have occupied a lot less space on the forum ...but would not have been nearly as entertaining. On second thought, ignore my advice.
...Google?
By the way, I love my 52" Samsung Series 7 LCD.
Some one should have given this bit of advise. Generally one should never pose a question while meds are being distributed or before nap time.
I too, think that crt's are still better. I have a '99 Sony HDTV, (34") and love it! But, the companies have decided that lcd is good enough.
You got good answers, too bad that you didn't like them. The good sets were Sonys and they don't make 'em anymore. Tough! If you think all CRT pictures are the same then you are hopeless.
and they noted the pro's and cons of all of them - the CRT did have some advantages and rather important ones.
Keep in mind though that this article is fairly old - and since that time Plasma and LCD have greatly improved.
The CRT's big drawback is weight, expense to build, and energy efficiency. And if you're Sony and you can build an LCD for $50 and sell it for $1800 or make a CRT for $300(shipping is a killer) and sell it for $350 which would you prefer?
No one wants CRT and so other than buying the odd RCA or Emmerson still hanging around the 13 inch CRT TV market or old stock "let's get rid of them if we can" models that might be in your in local small town department store I think you're going to be out of luck finding any CRT makers selling in North America.
You're forced to cave in and buy one of the flat screens. I can say that I've been happy with the Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD screen we bought last year. I think though that UHF certainly had a point on a few aspects that they raised. Motion is still something not quite perfect.
Here's the magazine article - page 19-21

sorry, I missed your post.
Maybe you have to go to Mexico to buy one you want. Seriously. Distributors don't stock what they can't sell, especially if the domestic laws impede the sale.
All I know is that they recently pulled the plug on Sony Trinitron CRT production. I have a 16:9 HD Sony XBR CRT set with a wonderful display but it's huge and weighs a ton for only 34-inches of screen real estate.
Don't even think about buying a CRT set today. Time to move on....
I don't hate LCDs but I'm still more of a plasma fan provided it's in a dimly lit room like our basement.
Unless the post is moved, members tend to have fun with non-audio related matters. Had you been a veteran guy not fully expalining why you hate something, it could have become ugly.
Hi Perfume:
You began your post with a subject statement of hatred. Then you failed to explain why you "hate" LCD until ask specifically.
If all you wanted was a list of manufacturers selling CRT sets it might have been better to Google or search out a video site rather than post on an audio site.
But I thought the responses offered some reasonable and considered replies. And yes, many relies all over the net are "silly".
Now you have received a couple of serious references below but I might suggest you consider where and what you post the next time you have such high expectations. I really don't see reason for disappointment with us audio Inmates.
Yes, I had high expectations from you old folk.
Boy was I wrong !
I sould have payed more attention to "Asylum "
Yeah, its a crazy zoo in here...so watch out, some of us bite too. lol
posting a video question on the *video* forum?
rw
Some high quality CRT sets are being dumped for flat panels. I doubt there is any new manufacture available that matches the quality of the old sets.
I don't believe you specified a SD or HD display.
AVS Forum has good info.
Use the link and scroll to the bottom. I have a HD CRT television and it works just fine for me.
