I'm tired of having to que up my Blu-ray of Crank when I want to see some glass crash. Come on now, Chev, let's see them pix!
Speaking of big glass crash, there was a thread a long time ago on AVS with pictures of a 65" disintegrating. It really wasn't nice at all. Made we want to shed a tear.
Follow Ups:
Yeah, gotta watch the Crank BD soon. Have had it for ages and still haven't, though I have watched the DVD a couple times. Got the Avatar collector's ed. BDs before Christmas and only watched it yesterday...I am way behind...haven't even cracked open the UK Life yet, hell facebook might be defunct by the time I get around to watching The Social Network (a release day purchase - why?? lol).
Well, barryb seems to have taken it in stride. My main display is "irreplaceable" in that there's nothing quite like it still available, so that's where the tranks would come in for me. The glass on many displays is just so darn thin now.

I have the box on the shelf unopened. The last time I watched blue people was The Smurfs on television in the '80s. I have a feeling I should have stopped there.

On the shelf unopened. But in my defense, I really want to watch it with my kids. It's the Attenborough version (not the shit Oprah one), so I know it's going to be excellent.

I only saw snippets of it while my wife was watching it. I can't stand Facebook (or social networking in general, for that matter), so it's not really a loss there.
I liked Avatar better at home actually, quite a lot better. Except for the audio. The sound mixing is, IMO, rather poorly done *compared to the video* which is really good. LFE is not appropriately applied, and what's there is pathetic...disappointing. Somehow I thought this would be a good test of the new (well, less old...) sub.
I have never even tried to use Facebook, no real reason to yet. I just had to see how they supposedly made an entertaining/interesting movie out of such a story. I understand that little of it is factual...not even as factual as a Hollywood "documentary". That is why it's not totally boring I guess.
I bought Avatar more for the fact that picture and audio quality should be exceptional (I didn't see it at the theater and Cameron's message/lecture was a strike). And now you go and ruin it for me with the audio comment (sterrriiike!).
:-(
Now it's behind the count, 1 - 2. Oh, well...
Don't take my word. After watching Avatar I googled around for reviews JIC... I mean, it was extremely slightly possible my system had a setup error...NOT! I am a bit anal about regularly checking the A/V system is "correct". Anyway, the reviewers I trust for technical assessment agree, all commented on the lack of appropriate LFE. If someone reviewing missed that, time for a new pointy hat and an ear-cleaning...and yes I'm pointing directly at someone you can probably guess at.It is still good though. When I had finished watching the extended version (~3 hrs.) I wanted to watch it again immediately, it was kind of enervating/energizing in the small room. Something about it, normally I can barely sit still long enough for a 2 hr. movie. It works well at home, very immersive. The audio *is* fairly smooth though, maybe it's supposed to be soothingly smooth?
The other day I just mentioned a few BD titles I haven't watched. One just happens to be Dances With Wolves. I smell a double feature coming up...
