Ordered my Sony directly from Sony. Was delivered professionally and no hassle at all. Didn't have to borrow a truck from a friend to go get it (a PITA, that).

Got my heart set on a Pioneer Viera Plasma TC-P42UT50. You guys have steered me to Plasma, my wife wanted the bigger screen ;-) I don't need the 3D (AFAIK) but I appreciate that the technology changes so fast that I actually am better off waiting.
"Pioneer"?
I own three Viera sets. Love them.

Local retailers are out of stock on 42 inch 1080P Plasma sets. To the rescue, Amazon. It would have been simpler if I would be satisfied with just any set from Costco, for instance, or even Best Buy. Yes, this is the future of retailing. They say they will even set it up in tmy home, so I don't have to worry about loading and unloading it into the van without breaking anything. H'mm, couldn't be easier, except for the time one must be available during usual business hours.
I am really not with the video technology scene at all, but I must admit, they pack a lot of technology into these flat panels. Let's see if I ever get to the stage of integrated LAN music/video. The only thing it won't be able to do is play a record for me ;-)
