In Reply to: RE: can someone explain how to use Netflix with an OPPO BDP-93 Blu-ray Player? posted by PhilJ on August 05, 2012 at 08:14:46
Do you have a router or switch to which you can connect the Oppo?
Generally, the modem (I do not know what Uverse calls their box) is connected to a router and that distributes signals to the computer and other connected devices.
BTW, do not expect exceptional sound from Netflix. DD but none of the hd codecs.

also I have a hookup speed of 11.5 mbps which is borderline from what I have read.
I am not sure what "DD but none of the hd codecs" means (I presume HD means high def sound?), I use stereo sound but the sound quality is the only thing I care about.
thankyou
Phil
If you want to connect more than one thing to the box, though, you need a router.
thanks...
You do. However, although I have never seen a Uverse device, from the discussion here, their box seems to include a router in it.

obviously I do not know what I want and am just beginning the search
I will call Uverse to confirm about the use of the extra Ethernet slot
best,
Phil
There are quite a few media streamers available. Apple TV is a good one, another one I would take a look at is the Roku 2 XS.
