Well, at least I see the demonstration models.
I presume any player without 4K upscaling will not cut the mustard or are upscalers going to be built into the TV sets?
What are we going to do with all that resolution?
Or is this just a ploy to get people who have money to spend it?
I'd like to see multiple screen displays, like two people watching their favorite programs side-by-side. Is this where we're headed?
Follow Ups:
Pretty much any modern tv has an upscale built in.
The extra resolution is pretty useless unless you have a huge screen (80+") to view from a distance. Like 3D, it's a gimmick got get your money.
OLED let's you watch two movies full screen at the same time, but you have to wear special glasses. Whoopee!
They are selling them at a loss at the moment due to the high failure rate in production.

I just bought a Panasonic plasma thinking that , by the time the new technology becomes inexpensive enough to buy, I'll get one. Until then, I'll struggle alone with my new 65" Panasonic.
6 years from now I might buy one when my Pioneer plasma dies on me
With all the problems people are having with these new OLED's over on the avsforum they should work out these problems in 5 or 6 years from now.
Saw one at the BB a couple of weeks ago. Although the picture settings were majorly f'd up, the potential of the technology was obvious. The curved screen was kind of cool, but for $9,000 plus tax it's for people with more dollars than sense. The sales guy told me the QA hit rate on the panels is only 25%. Not sure if that's true or not. I said something about the pic settings and he said he doubted that adjusting the picture would result in any sales. I saw his point. I think I'll stick with my Pio Elite for more than the foreseeable future, but four or five years from now ... maybe.
