Apparently constant buffering is an issue with Chromecast. Do a google search and you'll find plenty of threads on the issue.
Here's one, sounds familiar! "hi there, i have a new laptop and a new router and still have these problems when ever i play avi/video clip files, the one i am watching tonight is only 1gb and played fine for 32 mins, then started to stutter as if it was buffering, please supply a fix for this"
If you do not find a solution in one of the posts online try chromecast's customer support, they must have heard about it many times by now.

Thanks for your reply.
Actually the Chromecast unit works quite well. The problem turned out to be the number of routers in my Apartment building here. The solution was to take the router off of the 'Auto' mode on the router and select a channel where there were very few routers using it. Once I assigned the router to a Fixed Channel, the buffering completely ceased.
The only downfall to the Chromecast is that it can only be operated wirelessly and that is why people have problems. If they had an Ethernet port, it would be a lot easier.

I did see solution like get a new router, get a faster router, move the router closer, switch to the 5 GHz band, etc. I use and prefer ethernet for everything when possible.
Glad you got it figured out.
I have a 16 port switch at the router and 4 or 8 port switches in other rooms for extra devices like TVs, Squeezeboxes, DVD players, printers, multiple computers. The only wireless devices are mobile iPhones and iPads.
