Hung on wall, thermal protection kicking in. What wall and what location? Is it over a fireplace or adjacent to a heat source? Is the problem the plasma or is the placement and the conditions it is exposed to?
You're probably right given the length of time it's been in use but it is possible that the problem is the placement.

something related I think. The rep asked me if I was running straight to cable or from a cable box. I was running straight at the time but usually use a cable box. I switched over to the box and have had no more problems. However i am just guessing at the problem based on his question and my experience so far.

Why would it make a difference if you were running straight from cable or through a box (outside of getting different channels)?
I refuse to use a cable box personally.

I'm don't have that answer. I would rather not use a box but in order to get pay per view it is a must. I checked on a card sometime back and was told there were some down sides. I'll probably order HD now that we have the TV for it so I will check into it some more. But I understand what you're saying about using a box. AAMOF, the reason why I did not have the box in the loop was that without it we can pick up the network HD channels. I don't understand why though.

Most cable companies will let you have the local HD channels free without the box. They may be *required* to give it to you. Cable cards, if they can get them to work, don't do pay per view.

....I would like to think most consumers would not be so devoid of intelligence they place a plasma panel over a fireplace or adjacent a heat source. But hey, stranger things have happened.
We have yet to hear back from inmate artemus but I suspect when he called Pioneer service surely the service people will have questioned the placement of the set etc?
However, if a set has a fault after 2 or 3 days I wouldn’t want it and would demand a replacement OR my money back. Oh, it is quite possible the board it is on or the thermal protection switch itself is faulty.
